Atlas Travel Series portfolio of product benefits was updated by the plan administrator – WorldTrips  – with enhancements and other wording changes. These changes are effective August 1, 2024 and impact the below listed plans:

The respective plan Brochures, and policy Description of Coverage sample documents have also been updated to reflect the below detailed changes. You can view and download the same on the respective plan pages on this website.

What has changed in this update?

Plan updates for Atlas Travel (Atlas America or Atlas International), Atlas PremiumAtlas EssentialAtlas Group Travel, Atlas MultiTrip and Atlas MedEvac to include itemized changes as listed. The itemized listing of changes to the Atlas Travel Series portfolio of products listed effective with this product update dated 08/01/2024. Note: Items marked with an asterisk (*) does not apply specifically to the Atlas MedEvac insurance product.

Policy Benefit Changes

  • * Certificate Period: Maximum certificate period is 12 months regardless of home country or destination. Lost Luggage and Travel Delay benefits are eligible post-certificate period if the event began while covered. For Atlas Premium, this also includes the Quarantine Indemnity benefit.
  • * Dental: Emergency Dental Accident and Dental (Acute Onset of Pain) combined into one benefit. Requirement to obtain care within 72 hours is removed. Coverage for pain is incorporated into the dental benefit for Atlas Essential.
  • * Outpatient Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Care: Physician referral requirement removed.
  • * Emergency Eye Exam for a Covered Loss: “Deductible” per occurrence is now “copayment.”
  • * Testing: Pregnancy and STD tests no longer excluded if administered during treatment of an eligible injury or illness.
  • Cancellation (Applies to Atlas MedEvac only): Cancellation fee removed from plan language and this fee is not applicable.
  • Coinsurance (Applies to Atlas Essential only): PPO coinsurance revised from 75% to 70%. Within the PPO: You now pay 30% and the plan will pay 70% of eligible expenses after the deductible, to the overall maximum limit

Policy Wording Changes

  • Policy Terms: Misrepresentation and fraud language from the master policy added to the respective plan Description of Coverage document. Arbitration wording also updated.
  • New Definitions: Emergency Dental, Local Ambulance, and Outdoor Endurance Event definitions added.
  • Revised Definitions: Certificate Period, DME, Home Country, Inpatient, Outpatient, and Routine Medical Exam definitions updated.
